Jessica, Jeremy and Chris all went down the the legislative building April 20th 2010 for the 420 Celebration. It was a beautiful sunny day and a sea of people welcomed us as we got there. As we walked around taking many pictures and videos we saw a banana and pot costume as well as a lizard!! There was a band of hippie drummers keeping a satisfying beat to dance to. If anyone needed some munchies then they were in luck because their were many food vendors up and down the sidewalks. There were also mech. tables where you could buy all your 420 memorabilia. Just as 4:20pm hit, a loud cheer could be heard and a cloud of smoke puffed up into the air, over the crowd.

Main Street - J-Style [1988]
This is video is described as Winnipeg’s first hip hop music video. And it very well could be. Made in 1988, this video by J-Style, a local rapper features many eye pleasing angles of Winnipeg’s oldschool skyline. Bringing us back to the way it was when hip hop was so young and fresh. The song has an authentic rap, funk beat with quite a solid production from the early stages of the hip hop industry. The song is about issues that Aboriginal people faced on one of Winnipeg’s most notoriously grimy streets, Main Street. Funny thing is, some people still face the same issues in 2009 on this very same street! We were pleased to see pretty much every classic video effect utilized in this clip showing Winnipeg in a pretty, flashy way.
